BMW Protection: Tailored Dash Mats for the 3, 5 and 7 Series

A BMW interior is built to a high standard, but the Australian sun shows no favouritism, and the dashboard is the surface that suffers first. This collection brings together the protection available for the BMW range, currently anchored by a set of tailored Sunland dash mats cut for the 3 Series, the 5 Series E28 and the 7 Series. Each is patterned to its specific dash, sitting flush over the vents and sensors rather than draping awkwardly, and shielding one of the most expensive interior surfaces to repair.

Why the dash needs protecting first

German dashboards are beautifully finished, but they are not immune to UV. Sustained heat dulls and cracks the upper dash, and on models with a soft-touch or moulded top pad the cost of putting that right is steep. A tailored mat absorbs the sun's punishment, keeps the surface beneath cooler and preserves the finish underneath. It also tames the glare thrown up onto the windscreen, which is a real help driving into low morning or afternoon sun.

Dash mats for the 3, 5 and 7 Series

The current fitment covers three of BMW's core models. The 3 Series mat suits the everyday sedan that does the daily kilometres, the 5 Series E28 mat caters to owners keeping an older executive car original, and the 7 Series mat protects the flagship's more elaborate dash. Each follows the contours of its model, with cut-outs kept clear of the vents and sensor housings so nothing is blocked and the mat reads as part of the car.

Charcoal and black to match the trim

The mats are offered in charcoal and black, letting you either blend with a darker interior or choose the tone that best suits your trim. Both hide dust well and sit quietly against the dash, so the mat never looks like an afterthought. Whichever colour you pick, the cut is the same tailored pattern for your model, so it is purely a question of matching the character of your cabin.

Protecting an older BMW's originality

Owners of an E28 or an older 7 Series tend to care deeply about keeping the car as it left the factory, and the dash is central to that. An unblemished top pad is increasingly rare on an older BMW, and a cracked or faded one is hard and expensive to replace. Fitting a mat before the plastics have had a chance to dry out is the surest way to keep that interior presenting the way it should for years to come.

A precise, pattern-cut fit

Because these mats are cut to a model-specific pattern, they account for the differences between each BMW dash, right down to speaker grilles and sensor positions. That precision is what stops a mat curling at the edges or shifting about on top of the dash, and it ensures no vent is fouled and no warning light obscured. Match the listing to your model and it settles into place cleanly, with no trimming required.

Rounding out your BMW's protection

A dash mat is a natural first step, and the rest of the cabin is worth guarding too. The store's wider seat cover, floor mat and interior protection ranges cover the surfaces that take everyday wear, from the upholstery to the footwells, so you can build up cover for the whole interior over time. Use this BMW page as a starting point and add pieces as you need them.

Fitting early to preserve the dash

The best time to fit a dash mat is before the plastics have had a chance to dry out and craze. On a BMW that spends its days parked in the open, the upper dash ages quietly until the first cracks appear, and by then the damage is done. Slipping a tailored mat over a dash that is still in good order keeps it that way, taking the daily UV load so the surface underneath stays supple and unmarked well into the car's life.

Finding the right mat for your BMW

Check the model name and, where shown, the chassis code in each title against your car before ordering, since dash layouts differ across the BMW range and its generations. Confirm your colour, and the mat will drop straight in. If your particular BMW is not listed here yet, it is worth browsing the wider dash mat range for related fitments and pairing any mat with the other interior protection to keep the whole cabin in top shape.
